Giacomo Puccini is one of the best (if not the best) opera writer ever, his opera's changed as he became more experienced dying of throat cancer at the age of sixty-six leaving Turandot unfinished but he told his friend Franco Alfano how he wanted Turandot to end.
About half an hours drive away from Lucca is Torre Del Lago Puccini Where they perform his opera's every year. Plus he was born in a Lucca appartment which is open to the public.
